Hello everyone,

Nearly all jobs require some amount of training, and a company can only invest so much into the training program. Generally they make a standardized form of training and ship it out to every employee who needs it, whether its in person training or simply a module based training. Unfortunately there is a lot of waste in spending for training programs, “Companies spent thousands of dollars on training programs without desired results.” (Patki, S., Sankhe, V., Jawwad, M., & Mulla, N., 2021). The article I have chosen, Personalised Employee Training, exemplifies a method for training employees based off of their learning strengths. The article proposes, “that a learner-centric e-learning system using adaptive learning in this paper. This system is designed as such that it will be most suitable to the learner and flexible according to their style as they learn and grow.” (Patki, S., Sankhe, V., Jawwad, M., & Mulla, N., 2021). This means that as a user in the training will dictate they method of training to receive. The program will determine how proficient a user is at learning using specific methods, then once the best learning style is discovered it will focus its training used said method. The training program explained in this article can be used to choose training vehicles by gathering data on trainees. An example of this would be the manufacturing employees who use this training method might work best with video training with follow up questions, so if you wanted to target them directly with training that other departments don’t need you can custom tailor the training for that department. With the training system adaptively learning how to train individual users, patterns can be used to customize more in depth training for individual positions in the company. This resource can be used in the final project by simplifying the training process. By selecting an adaptive learning track most of the common knowledge that needs to be addressed across the company can be done in one program. From there more detail oriented training can be used, this strategy will lighten the time and resources to create an efficient training program compared to making individual learning tracks for each department.

By knowing whether or not your audience has technical experience, you are able to determine the best training vehicle to assist them in the use of your product. Written instructions with graphics can provide detailed and highly technical information to a technical audience and can also be tailored for non-technical audiences. By showing an audience how an end user might interact with a product, video instructions can be more informative than written manuals. A website is a good way to convey technical information for a product or service that will be updated regularly in a way that various multimedia can be used. Websites provide readily available information in a variety of formats to an audience. (Gerson & Gerson, 2016).

To determine the best training vehicle for a product I would want my team to know the following things:

  • The average person a product is expected to be used by and their likely level of education and access to the internet.
  • What basic information people will need to make their use of the product successful.
  • What are the likely areas of using the product people might have the most trouble with.
  • Is there any potential dangerous missuses of the product, how likely they are to occur, and is there any information we can provide which will reduce the likelihood for a dangerous situation to occur?

At this point in time with the increasing adoption of the internet and smartphones it is hard to envision a product that wouldn’t benefit from having instructions placed on a website. Instructions placed on a website can satisfy the needs of a variety of end users in a relatively cheap way. The one time printing of thousands instruction manuals may be cheaper than the long term upkeep of a website, but being able to update the instructions based on feedback from users, and being able to provide information in a way that meets the needs of a large audience, can have a huge impact on how a customer satisfaction with a product and their loyalty to the company that created it.

Technical communication is not the same as other writing styles learned in school. According to our Module 1 Overview, â€œTechnical communications are different from other types of communications in that the main objectives are clarity, conciseness, and accuracy. Technical communicators achieve clarity by providing specific detail and quantified information. Technical communications avoid vague language that can mean different things to different people. Technical communications often attempt to answer the questions who, what, where, when, why, and how, also known as the reporter’s questions. Technical communications achieve conciseness by providing specific detail in as few words as possible. In doing so, technical communications do not waste their audiences’ time. Additionally, the devices on which we receive our information can have very small screens (smartphones, tablets, etc.), so conciseness is more important today than it ever was before. The need for accuracy in technical communications is self-evident. Inaccurate information leads to bad decision making and an inability to make a product or service do what it is designed to do; it can also lead to sending the wrong message and a plethora of other problems, some that can even place employees and customers in danger. “(para. 3).

Effective technical communication is imperative in today’s diverse business environment because it all comes down to time is money. Communication needs to be clear and concise so the recipients can get the message and move on. The textbook has some numbers to backup this claim. According to Gerson and Gerson (2014), “Let’s say you make $35,000 a year and spend 28 percent of your time writing e-mail (as do many employees in the workplace). Your company is paying you approximately $9,800 just to write e-mail. That does not include the additional time you spend using other written communication channels or speaking to coworkers, vendors, and clients” (p. 7).

Need Post responses… 150 words min for EACH response, 1 source (no later than 5 years) PER POST, APA format.

This was the post: What was the HealthIT Topic you selected related to your specialty? Why did you select it? How will this impact your practice?

Here are the responses to the post I need responses on……>

Post 1

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

My chosen topic related to my future professional practice is “The Potential Pitfalls of Electronic Health Records. Representing a recent development in healthcare, EHRs have become very popular in developing countries. The rate of adoption in the United States is specifically extremely high. While less than 20% of hospitals in the country used EHRs in 2013, more than 80% use them today with the coverage increasing exponentially (Bossen, 2015). Both the government and private sector organization are promoting the use of EHRs through policies and business strategies. However, while most of the people using this technology lack adequate information of the potential pitfall that could arise from the use of EHRs. I intend to explore the different types of risks and demerits that could arise from the unlimited use of EHRs. Among the topics of interest include how EHRs use could lead to the possible breach of health privacy policies like the HIPAA.

Through this study, I will be able to identify the possible challenges that I will face in my practice when dealing with EHRs. I will seek to understand some of the errors that have been committed by other health professionals in dealing with patient information in EHRs. For example, Houston-Raasikh (2014) found out that a small disruption in HER system can result in total disruption of workflow in an organization that highly depend on them. Also, there is the ethical dilemma with the use of EHRs due to perceived privacy concerns by patients and other healthcare providers (Birkhead, Klompas & Shah, 2015). By getting a clear picture of these challenges, I will devise methods to reduce or eliminate error during practice. Moreover, I will seek to understand the current government regulations regarding the use of EHRs such as the HITECH Act of 2009. Through my topic, I will understand the concept of meaningful use of EHRs and apply it in my career.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

I selected the HealthIT topic related to electronic health records. I selected this topic because it was such a huge transition for me in my home health job. When we transitioned to the computerized charting and EHR’s in the hospital I had a team of Informatics specialists that were very knowledgeable and helpful. When we transitioned in home health it was very different. For example in home health we charted on paper and computer for quite some time before finally completing the transition to paperless charting. There were nurses that chose to retire early rather than to learn the new charting system. I was grateful for the new system in both jobs. It was difficult in the beginning, however once I learned the system I cannot imagine ever going back to traditional charting. I also love the idea of merging systems so that no matter where the patient is their medical records can be accessed. “Digital access to medical information is becoming a core domain of medicine” (Lyles, Fruchterman, Youdelman, & Schillinger, 2017).

There are various benefits to electronic health records such as:

Accessibility

Efficiency

Reduced Medical Errors

Increased communication and collaboration

Electronic health records impact multiple areas of the healthcare profession. The use of electronic health records and patient portals have become a focal point for organizations across the healthcare continuum. The healthcare provider benefits from accessibility and efficiency. Communication and collaboration increases which improves quality of care and that is the ultimate goal for the patient. As technology progresses and electronic health records and use of patient portals increase, the continuity of care and patient satisfaction will increase which will improve patient outcomes and that is beneficial to the healthcare provider, the patient, and the organization. The impact of electronic health records impacts all aspects of the medical profession.
