EvaluatingPolicingThoroughly explain the importance of the community policing evaluation process, two forms of evaluation used in determining policingeffectiveness, and how the evaluations are used by the administration. How does the community policing evaluation process differ from that used inevaluating traditional policing? In your opinion, does the evaluation processproperly identify successful implementation or areas of concern? Why or whynot?Your initial response should be 250-300 words in length. Please support yourclaims with examples from the text and/or scholarly articles. That evil is half-cured whose cause we know.—Shakespeare (Oliver, 2008, p.294).Communitypolicing is the way forward for serving the community since it is evident thatthrough the process, the law enforcement will be able to handle the changingnatures of the communities while at the same time deal with the dynamiccharacteristics of crime, violence as well as law disorders within thecommunities. However, after implementationof the technique, there is need to have a thorough evaluation of the process. The importance of this evaluation is to understand the effectiveness of thecommunity policing and the nature of elevated levels of crimes within thecommunity (Miller, Hess & Orthmann, 2011). This helps in selecting theeffective methods to curb the community disorders and control crimes. It is alsogood in helping understand the policing administration, and the neededimprovements at the level of accountability and professionalism of thedepartment. In determining theeffectiveness of the police department, we can use different forms of evaluation. The first is the level of community engagement in reducing the crime rates; inthis case, the measure is on developing and maintaining trust of the communityto the policing (Kappeler & Gaines, 2012). This is the level at which thecommunity is able to engage with the officers. The second is the administrativedecentralization of the policing, which is the level at which policing hascreated community partnership, and the level of developing the problem solvingstrategies within the community.  The evaluationactively influences the effectiveness of the implementation of communitypolicing. Since community policing isnot a single police tactic as tradition, the evaluation needs a collection of strategiesthat are under a set of common principles applied in multiple different ways. However, determining the effectiveness of community policing depends on how adepartment defines its effectiveness. Each police department applies differenttactics differently, thus evaluation might differ depending on the communityand the selected initiative. We need to remember it is of utmost importance that each policedepartment institute its own evaluation process for implementation ofcommunity-oriented policing (Masterson and Stevens, 2002, p.295).ReferencesKappeler, V.
