Daniel wrote: The Transition to CommunityPolicingIdentifyand explain three differences between traditional and communitypolicing philosophies. What historical perspectives have influenced thetransition from traditional policing to community policing within manydepartments across the country? What impact did this transition have withregard to law enforcement administration and management?  Community policing allows the police to workmore directly with the public. The police work with the community in order tomonitor and reduce the amount of crime rates. The community working with thepolice allows them to now which police officers patrol their area and thepolice to know which areas have more of a crime rate, which allows them tomonitor them more often. Traditional policing occurs in some areas, where the police are sent to an areaof crime after it’s been reported. Traditional policing don’t allow any inputin decisions or help from citizens. Many states have chosen to use communitypolicing since it is more effective in efforts to reduce crime rates. Communitypolicing allows police to wor with citizens which allows for many communitiesto form watch groups within their community and report any unusual behavior orpeople to the police. With the advancement of technology this allows more people to communicatebetter, which allows for community policing to work better than traditionalpolicing. Community policing often has communities to work together and helppatrol their communities, as well as know which officers patrol their area. Reference:Oliver, W. (2008). Community oriented Policing A Systematic  Approach ToPolicing. New Jersey: Pearson The article differentiatesthe modern method used in the police department to ensure safety of the public. It differentiates between community policing methods and the traditionalmethods. The article clearly describes the differences. Community policing philosophystates that today police department has integrated the law enforcement officerswith the public to ensure safety of the public. This has significantly broughtefficiency in the police department and in the public. This has also includedthe public to ensure their safety making it possible for them to report anyincident before it happens or immediately after it happens.  According to the article, traditional methodof policing was inefficient. This is because the police officers or the lawenforcement officers were just sent to the crime scene after crime had happened (Oliver, 2008). They remained in the offices until the crime happen. This is aclear indication that many crimes went unrecorded and without the policedepartment knowing. Public policing philosophy works towards solving theproblem and preventing any problem that may arise. This is because most of thetime police department is always with the public and therefore they can observesome problems happening. On top of that the public can easily access policeofficers. The paper is not complete. Ithas left some important aspects of the question. It has just outlined thedifferences but it has not covered on the historical perspective of transition. It does not also explain on the impacts of the transition to the lawenforcement department in depth. It has explained with a lot of brevity. Therefore we can say that the article has some parts that are good while othersare not good.ReferenceOliver,W. (2008).
