HWE 200 Introduction to Health and Wellness WK4-D1

  Life Stressors [WLOs: 1, 2] [CLOs: 3, 4]<

Stress is a response by the body from demands placed on it and is incorporated into our lifestyle. Stressors come in two forms: eustress, known as good stress, and distress,  known as bad stress. Both types of stress can result in a stress  response. Stress can impact health and performance. College students are  no exception. “About one-third of students who responded to the 2013  National College Health Assessment reported that their stress levels had  negatively affected their academic performance,” (Powers & Dodd,  2017, p. 297). For this discussion, you will assess the amount of stress  in your life and examine its effects on your health and wellness by  completing the following tasks:  Take the Laboratory 11.2: Stress Index Questionnaire in your course textbook. Tabulate your results and write them down along with a brief assessment of your results to be used in your discussion response. Select one of the relaxation techniques that are listed in Chapter 11 of your text and practice the method.

In your discussion response, address the following items: Discuss your results, from the Stress Index Questionnaire, stating  your score and stress category. Were you surprised by your score? Identity at least two of your major stressors impacting your wellness (only share stressors you are comfortable sharing). Explain which dimensions of wellness are impacted by stress. Describe the relaxation technique that you tried in your journal. Do you think the relaxation technique you tried would be effective  in reducing your stress level if practiced on a regular basis? Why or  why not? Elaborate on the major health risks and diseases associated with distress. Use a reference to support your comments.

Include the text and one additional scholarly reference correctly cited in APA style (Links to an external site.) as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center (Links to an external site.) to help support your response. See the Citing Within Your Paper (Links to an external site.) and Formatting Your References List (Links to an external site.) web pages for additional guidance. Reflection about environment health class.

After reviewing these resources, write a 250 word or more reflection with your responses to what you saw. Please answer the following questions:

1.  What was one or two interesting things that you learned about Dr. Dominici’s personal history?

2.  What are the sources of fine particulate matter and what are its potential human health impacts?

3. Dr. Dominici mentions the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), which are set by our federal law the Clean Air Act regulating the amount of pollutants allowed in our air. What did Dr. Dominici’s research find about cities where the amount of pollution was well below the NAAQS?

4.  What do these articles tell you about the types of people that do science?

Discussion 1: Informed Consent

nformed consent means that a social worker or another professional will not intervene in a client’s life or release confidential information about him unless that client has freely consented
— Dolgoff, Harrington, & Loewenberg, 2012, p. 160

Social workers are bound by the NASW Code of Ethics (2008) to provide informed consent with every client. A signed informed consent form protects the client and the social worker. It exemplifies the profession’s respect for its clients, allows for self-determination, and is the cornerstone of good social work practice. Sometimes, though, reporting of confidential information is mandated by law.
By Day 3

Post a description of the importance of confidentiality when working with your client. How does the principle of confidentiality impact the therapeutic relationship? Then, explain your understanding of mandated reporting and how it empowers vulnerable populations.

The Most Critical Pollutants WEEK 9

                                        3 paragraphs ONLY!!

In Chapter 6: The Environment – Part I, Hite and Seitz (2016) note that pollution and global warming were an important concern of the first world conference on the environment that was held in Sweden in 1972. Principle 6 of that declaration stated that we must stop the release of pollutants and heat that cannot be effectively processed by our environment (Declaration of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment. 1972. Chapter 11. p. 2.<https://www.ipcc.ch/apps/njlite/srex/njlite_download.php?id=6471>).

Thinking about the different types of pollutants and heat that cannot be effectively processed by our environment, which are the most critical to address? Identify three pollutants you consider to be the most critical to address and explain why you believe they are most important.

Be sure to inform your response with facts from sources. Use our ebook/textbook each week and at least one scholarly outside source. You must cite sources in-text and give a full citation at the end of your response.

Social determinants of health could be interrelated and   could be the reason for unhealthy or risky health behaviors and attributes   that lead to negative outcomes. Public health officials must constantly look   for ways in which they can eliminate some of these problems in the society.

Describe how the community is presently tackling the   problem through the local public health department.

Propose a resolution for the health risk and outcome   caused by the social determinants.

Explain how these unhealthy behaviors and attributes could   be reduced or eradicated in the society.

How do public health officials handle the chronic diseases? Provide examples of interventions and programs.

What can you, as a public health official, suggest to improve the interventions or programs?
